Finally, DTbH Putian is opened.

Finally, after a month of preparation, struggle, screaming and yelling, late night of meetings, the hotel can open tomorrow.

December in Shanghai again

I haven't been in Shanghai much. I spent most of my time in Putian this month for the preparation of the hotel opening. Let's just say it has put frustration to a new benchmark. The construction and fitout was delayed by the contractor's supplies. The Mechanical and fire life safety system are not properly commissioned. It has been a mess. My engineering colleague assumed the PM position on site. We tested emergency power and light ourselves! Crazy!
Adding to the stress, i got pulled into a bit of office politics. The end result is that I got a promotion to take over the luxury projects team. This is advanced level and I am not at all ready for it. But my bosses think that I can help bridging the management and design. I felt that I have finally mastered the necessary skills of my current job. This move caught me unexpected.
After all, it is still a promotion. It is going to be an interesting year for 2013.
Christmas is coming. One can only wish upon the star and hope for the best. :-)
